Pretty, pretty!

Megan's favorite word lately has been "pretty!". When I pulled the outfit she is wearing above out of her drawer she was very excited, she had never worn it before (it is a hand-me-down from her cousin Beatrice) and she thinks it is very pretty. She kept telling me that over and over. Then she carefully chose some very pretty socks to wear with it.

Right now we have daffodils blooming at our house. (I am quite excited, I planted them last fall and they are coming up good.) Today I picked one to take out to my Mom, Megan saw it and thought it was very pretty and she wanted to carry it to the van and then held it all the way in the van and gave it to Mom.

The kids found these beautiful Mayflowers (Hepatica) out at Mom and Dad's, these are one of my very favorite Spring flowers. I think they are so beautiful!! Megan thought they were very pretty too. It is so fun to see things through a child's eyes and to see their excitement over the simple things in life like pretty socks. It is my goal to have that same appreciation in my life and to make sure that I tell God and others "Thank you" for the very many "pretty" things in my life.

What pretty things are you enjoying at your house?

You have to kiss many dolphins (no, toads!) to find your Prince, Right?

WFMW ~Morning Prayer time

"In the morning, O Lord, Thou wilt hear my voice;
In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch."
Psalm 5:3
This morning I was thinking about what to write for Works for me Wednesday and so I started to make a list of the things in my life that really work for me. The first thing on my list was my morning prayer and Bible reading time. I like to get up before the kids (sometimes they are early birds and so that doesn't work but I still try to have my time anyway) and have a quiet time of prayer ( I like to use a prayer journal)and reading the Bible.
I thought I would share some of the reasons it works for me:
  • I feel connected with the Source of Life from the Beginning of the day. Which gets me started for open communication with God all day long.
  • Any of my concerns for the day can be given over to God immediately, before I start feeling stressed about them and He helps me with them.
  • Even if I am to have a busy day, I can start it out with a time of peace, which seems to help the whole day go more peacefully.
  • When reading the Bible I am reminded of a better way to live, and usually there is something that I read about that helps me with my day to day life.
  • I ask for wisdom and strength for my day.
I find my morning time to be such a blessing. Now that it is a habit it is not very hard to do. Developing a habit is the hardest part but I would really encourage everybody to try to develop this one. It is so worth it!
  • I would love to hear what you do for prayer time and how it works for you. Also I would love suggestions for how you do it when you are at somebody else's house or have overnight company who also rise early. Those are my hardest times at keeping to my schedule.

My Mom making Spaetzle

The MOST delicious meal my Mom used to make for us was fried chicken, Spaetzle and a lettuce salad with oil, vinegar and sugar...my mouth is watering just remembering this meal.
For her 80th birthday in 1990 ALOT of us gathered at her home in Kelowna for a surprise birthday party and we asked her if she would cook us this meal for HER party!!! She was honoured. ALL her siblings and her 5 children were there...even her sister Esther(from Switzerland) was there. We had such a good visit. My Mom died in 1996...sure do miss her.
Today is a rainy dull day in Victoria...thought this was a good blog for such a day.
