GENERAL ASSEMBLY INVITES THE MEMBER STATES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SPORT FOR ACCELERATING THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MILLENNIUM

Before addressing the theme of Dialogue among Civilizations, the General Assembly invited States members to accelerate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through sport-based initiatives and promote the integration of sport in development programs.

The resolution entitled "Using sport to promote education, health, development and peace", presented by the representative of Tunisia, the Assembly invited Member States, especially the organizers of major sporting events, to leverage these events to promote initiatives relating to sport for development and peace, and strengthen existing partnerships and forge new.
